Here I propose to you a guide to be introduced in the world of the Wireless Sensor Networks applications step by step and blog by blog.
In an approach from general to particular first I propose to you to read the next series of articles published in the EDN Network Magazine. It’s mainly addressed to electronics engineers but I think can be also interesting for end users of the technology. After reading those articles you will know what is the object and the basis of the technology.
After that you can take a look to the Wireless Sensor Networks Blog to be able to understand the current state of the art at market. It’s again non specific to agriculture but I recommend to check it from time to time to be up to date with the current status of the deployment.
Problems appears when looking for blogs dedicated specifically to the applications for agriculture. There are already available many articles from hardware developers like Libelium, SW platforms suppliers like Fairport or System Integrators like Advanticsys or IDOM, but it’s not easy to find a particular blogger following this issue on the Net. I hope situation will change in the near future as many diferent solutions are appearing in the market and the contribution from bloggers to evaluate the pros and cons of each one will support farmers on take the more convenient decision for their particular cases.
So probably, until this technology becomes more extended, it will be required to appeal to blogs with a more general approach to the smart agriculture like Agro2.0 or Chil.
As a reference, when looking for blogs treating the Smart Cities the offer is wider and deeper (like Think Big blog, sponsored by Telefonica, or SmarterPlanet sponsored by IBM) so it can be expected that the focus of interest in Smart Agriculture will also increase in the coming months and it will be reflected in the quantity of references in the Net.
Finally, I list some articles available in the Net regarding this topic:
Agricultura de precisión en Ribeira Sacra con redes sensoriales inalámbricas.
